You have to type the search term or phrase and then press VO-down arrow to move through the rest of the results. "Search the web for…" and "Search Wikipedia for…" will be at the bottom of the other search results. I'm not sure how to get back to the search box; I usually cmd-tab away then press cmd-space to get back into the search box where I type in another term.
I hope this helps. I have had nothing but success with Spotlight. When you choose "show in Finder," the Finder window comes up with the list of search results, as if you had gone to your desktop and pressed cmd-F to do a search. I just find Spotlight quicker.
