Jane,

Don't know why that happened. I have redeemed  two gift cards on my account at 
separate times, and I had a credit card on the account as well. All purchases 
came out from the gift card balance before hitting the credit card.

The only difference was that I redeemed my card a few days before I purchased 
anything... just worked out that way... but that should not make a difference.


If anyone else knows why this happened, I hope they chime in. Otherwise, I 
would make a call to Apple on this one.
