I just set it to mark as junk but leave it in my inbox. That doesn't help the 200 plus messages in my junk folder, most of which are not junk at all, however. GMail does a good job at filtering spam, so I'm considering turning off junk filtering altogether on the mac as it does not seem to learn from my unmarking messages.
