Scott,
After you are done recording you can actually just copy and paste the
file itself into a Garage Band Project.
You can open a new project and once it is there just go to where your
file is saved in the Finder and copy it. Then go back to Garage Band, press
Enter to move to the beginning of your track and paste.
One easy way to record yourself and your voice over in a single track
is to just open quicktime and start a new audio file, then turn the audio
playback on.
There is a delay but this will loop your voice through your system so
all you would need to do is one recording on system audio and since your voice
is now coming through your system it will be recorded.
The delay is a little weird but at least you don't have to line tracks
up and you just have it in one track.
I don't do this recording skype calls though. I am still working out
the kinks here but it is better to have two tracks with two people so you can
edit them individually as necessary.
I have been trying to find a ood way to do this but haven't got it to
work yet.
I have started to record a Skype session and my input with the plan to
merge them in Garage Band but the Skype session always eliminates the silence
which makes aligning them impossible
I made sure that the silence monitoring was off but I still have the
same problem.
I will let you know when I come up with a solution to this.
I hope this has been helpful. If you have more questions or anything
let me know.
We can give Skype a go if you would like. I am free most evenings. Take
care!!
