Hello all.
I want to tell you about a fantastic app for the mac called iKeyboard.
For £6.99 in the UK Mac App store, you can turn your mac into a
bluetooth keyboard for your iOS device. You can even control your iOS
device using this app, and not just type text like the paid Type2Phone
app. There are a few things to be aware of.
1. Always start bluetooth on your iOS device first before launching the
app. This is the case even if it is already paired. But on subsequent
connections, all you do is double tap on the name of your Mac, and it
should connect right away providing the iKeyboard app is open of course.
2. Make sure that the mac is discoverable to all devices. This can be
done in Bluetooth Preferences.
3. You must turn VoiceOver off on the mac side once the app is open
otherwise it will intercept all keystrokes, preventing the app from
working properly.
The interface of this app basically is a representation of a standard
physical keyboard for those who are interested. There is the usual menu
bar, but no toolbar. Oh yes, speaking of which, to quit the iKeyboard
app, first turn VoiceOver back on the mac side, Press VO-M to open the
menu bar, right arrow to iKeyboard, down arrow to open the menu, and
choose quit. Command-Q does not work from within this app.
Hope this app will make using your iOS device even more proficient.
To get it, simply search for iKeyboard in the app store on your mac.
Enjoy!
