Hello, I've been working on this service for a month or two now, and am finally prepared to release it on Monday. I wanted to mention it on this list to let everyone know.
It is a web-based service called ZCaptcha, though I'd like to create an application for it eventually. Basically you take a screenshot of the captcha, then either upload it to the service or attach it to an e-mail. It takes approximately 2-5 minutes, but soon you'll get an e-mail back with the captcha code, or else you can check online, too. It is similar to what Solona did, but with this there are always people to read the code. It uses Amazon Mechanical Turk, which is a service by Amazon where hundreds of thousands of people are available to perform small tasks for a low price. So, the image is sent, and easily returned within a couple of minutes with the correct code. Because Turk itself charges, the average price is $0.06 per captcha request, and ones in which the screenshot is wrong somehow (not containing the captcha or the captcha cannot be read) is free. Obviously besides WebVissum for Firefox, there is really nothing like this out there, which is why I wanted to develop it, as much for myself as for everyone else. I plan on launching this on Monday, so I will give more information then. Thanks, Brandon -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "MacVisionaries" group.
