Hi Kristi
I can't say that I have a strong opinion yet, but I have for sometime been in
research mode as regard to braille displays. When the national Federation of
the blind came to Dallas this past summer, I went to exhibits. I have a focus
40, and I was thinking about replacing it with a Bluetooth braille display.
This is so I can use both the iPhone and my Mac.
I believe I have now, after looking at several displays, decided to more
carefully Investigate one called the braille edge. It is new among those
supported by Mountain lion and iOS devices. However, it also can be used as a
stand alone unit. The price is the same as the focus 40.
Unfortunately, I doubt if anyone can tell me much yet about this display,
because it's so new to voiceover. I have been having a very irritating problem
with my focus 40, and I hope it has improved since this newest update. The
problem that I have with the focus 40 is that my Mac doesn't seem to receive
keystrokes accurately all the time. I think it has something to do with the
speed of my brailling on the keyboard. I have reported this, but not yet gotten
it to work exactly right.
