In continuation of this thread, I have found through an Internet search that by going to menu/about this mac/more infomration, and selecting the storage tab in the toolbar, you are able to see the true disk space allocation. In doing so, I have been able to see that I have a category called "other," which is using the additional 400 plus GB space. However, I am not sure how to find this "other" area and search and delete the files. The page I reviewed indicated this is a culmination of an assortment of files. Alas, my search continues :) Emilio wrote: > Hello Chris and Tim, > > This is somewhat of a problem because when trying to move folders from > one location to another I get a message informing me that my operation > cannot be completed because I do not have enough hard disk space. > Furthermore, When calculating my Macintosh HD the largest file is my > user directory, which is only 536GB.
