Hi,

is there an advantage to using Notes instead of TextEdit?  It seems like 
TextEdit would do the same thing, but maybe that 's just me?

You can set different key combinations by using System Preferences under 
Keyboard and Shortcuts, I think it is.  The Voiceover Commanders are for 
commands that would only function while VoiceOver is running, or at least that 
is the way I understand it.
