I had this problem as well, the first time you use it, it had to download some additional components. I would try 1 of 2 things. First, I would try waiting 3 to 5 minutes and then doing command-F5 and see if Fred comes up. If that doesn't work, see if you can get some sighted help to read the screen for you.
