It takes a few seconds and some patients, but the app beeps when it recognizes the barcode. I read helpful tips to figure out where barcodes are. For example on a can of food, it typically is near the seam. I found on a CD case, if I slowly moved my phone around the square, within 30-seconds or so, the barcode was found. It even worked for me on a bag of shredded cheese. :) The other app I'm using, that I'm not a familiar with is: Consmr. https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/consmr-reviews-grocery-baby/id519874080?mt=8 This app seems to lead you to a real community of consumer reviews.
