Harry, this is genius. This worked perfectly. I still don't know why Safari only blocks new bookshare files but now I can read them.
To show the develop menu in the menu bar, go to the Preferences dialog from the Safari menu. Select the Advanced tab and you will find the option to show the develop menu.
