Neil, There is a wonderful alternative to Sonos, with equal to superior sound quality.
It allows me to manage the music both in my home in Switzerland and New York and even stream music to my iDevices while on the road. Can you believe that I can actually have both places synchronized and play the same music at the same time? I even managed to entertain guests that were staying at my place while I was traveling… Haha There is an App on iOS that has been developed with a special care to accessibility and the whole thing fundamentally changed my music experience. The brand is surprising, it's by Logitech. The server is called Logitech Media Server and the appliances are Squeezeboxes. You can get stand alone receivers that you can plug to your audio equipment, whether they are home theaters, wall or sealing speakers, or whatever else you like. Sonos is propietary and even though I have started developing an alergy to most Open Source products, Squeezebox and the Logitech Media Center are the exceptions to the rule.
