Mike, you forgot the apostrophy key. It's 3 keys to the right of the letter l. L, semicolon, apostrophy, then, return.

Highlight the file or folder, and press your enter key. This is the key to keys to the Right of the letter L. This will bring you into an edit field, where you can simply type the new name of the file or folder. Simply pressing enter again will rename the file or folder. I hope this helps.
