In albums with many guest artists appearing on it, such as a Santana album, the
individual song artist might be Macie Gray, Michelle Branch or Rob Thomas. The
album artist is Santana, as that's the artist that the album is attributed to.

Another example is hip hop albums where an artist such as Kanye might have
several guest artists perforing. the individual song artists might be Kanye
featuring Missy Elliot, etc. But the album artist would still be Kanye.

In my nomenclature, a composer is the person or persons who writes the song
including words and notes.

Hope this helps,
Kevin
