Too bad about the notes thing, as it's really handy. I created a Note called "Journal", and add to it on my MBP or iPhone. Another option if running snowy, would be to create a Document in Text edit, then call it Journal. That worked for me well since Tiger. And if she ever did upgrade to ML, one can copy and paste the text out of TextEdit.
