The Time Capsule is the Higher end Apple router. It's basically an Extreme Base Station that has a 2 or 3 TB HD built into it. I bought one so I could Time Machine backup my Mac Mini and Mac Book Pro wirelessly onto a single disk. I also have an external 3 TB drive connected to the TC as an Air Disk for additonal backup purposes and file storage.
