This is excellent! Thanks for the tip. Is there not a way that I can do
this without having to set the background for each individual paragraph
seperetly?

Hello everyone,
Chris asked how to do this recently but I've been busy. Here's what to do.
• You need to have the text pointer in the paragraph for which you want to
change the background colour;
• Turn cursor tracking off so that the text pointer stays where it is;
• Press Cmd-t to open the Fonts palette;
• Navigate to the document color button and press VO-Space;
• The Colour palette will open and you can choose your colour from the
table, making sure to interact with the table;
• Bring the mouse and do VO-Shift-Space;
• Press Cmd-Shift-c to close the Colour palette and Cmd-t to close the fonts
palette. Your text will be on a background of the colour you chose;
• Remember to put cursor tracking back on.
Unfortunately, VoiceOver does not speak the background colour.
To change the text colour, you need to highlight the text to be changed, but
you don't need to turn cursor tracking off.
