Hey all, I was just down at my parents and tested out their scanner with my snail mail. I used their all in one cannon with my mac air and then used the program skim to read the PDF, and it worked perfectly. I now want to buy a scanner asap, and wanted to see if anyone knew of a good cheap one that they use with their mac. I don't want a printer, copier, fax, scanner all in one, as that just complicates things, and since I can't read anything printed, why bother. There are so many out there, I wanted to see if anyone had any luck with buying one and connecting it through their network without sighted assistance. The only thing I really plan to use the scanner for is to scan my mail so I don't have to rely on other people to read it to me. The only other thing I know I am concerned about is my parents scanner wouldn't scan as it was out of ink. Is there one that doesn't need an ink cartridge if it can't print? Also, if there is anything I am not thinking about when considering buying a scanner, please do let me know. Thanks
