DocuScan Plus is indeed an app to scan and OCR texts. It works really well, 
although it is expensive. It's free for a seven day trial, but $299 for a full 
life-time licence.

It seems to detect scanners automatically and require no set up or anything. It 
will scan and OCR the documents at once. It works whether the document is right 
side up or up side down. Once scanned, it allows you to save to the cloud and 
then export to various formats. It can also OCR PDFs.

I use it all the time to read my snail mail. It's easy to use and gets great 
results.
