Hi, Harry, You can use the Facebook chat in safari, but it's a bit tricky. I'd recommend using messages. Add your new account as Jabber, server name: chat.facebook.com, and put your username and password for Facebook in the appropriate areas. Your Facebook friends will show up in the buddy list, and you can check the box that says "text chat".
