Hi Sarai, I've had some success with Sound Studio using the following method:
command p to play. near the place to start editing, press comma to pause the recording, comma to resume again. While playing, the 1 key rewinds, the 2 key fast forwards, but only by one second. At the spot you want to mark, press m. I usually press comma first, then press m. I'm not always certain that my mark is set on the fly, but you may have better luck. Set another marker further on using the procedures outlined above. To select with assurance, press command shift g., and follow the dialog. Set the start time to marker 1, the end time to marker 2. Be sure to press enter to close the dialog. At this point you can press delete to remove what is selected. Or you can press command option s to save what is selected as another file name. Or, you could play the file, press m while playing to set mark1, m again later to set mark2, and so on for several markers. Then in the edit menu use split file by markers, I'm not sure of the exact name of this feature. There is a manual which explains this perhaps more clearly. You can move from mark to mark with command left or right arrow, and you can select between markers by adding shift the these commands. You can go to specific times by pressing command g and entering a number of seconds, or minutes:seconds, that is, minutes, colon, seconds, such as 10:15, or by selecting a marker to go to in the go to dialog. But I will caution that all this is possible only as long as sound studio and or the OS are cooperating and you are in the correct mode. Something misterious can happen whereby, for some reason which I cannot identify, pressing ordinary commands simply does not work. For instance pressing left or right arrow to move the playback pointer gets nothing more than a bonk sound from the system as though this key press is unknown. The only thing I know to do to fix this is save my work, if, indeed I feel it is safe to, and reopen sound studio. Hope this helps, John S ----- Original Message ----- From: Sarai Bucciarelli To: [email protected] Sent: Saturday, March 30, 2013 10:07 PM Subject: Sound studio editing tracks Hi: I purchased Sound Studio. I cannot figure out how to edit audio files. I tried turning off vo cursor tracking and shift down arrow to select segments of tracks. They will not select so I can delete them. Any ideas? -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "MacVisionaries" group.
