Hi May,

If you hold down command+option+control and use the left ar   and righ arrows 
to cycle backward or forward through the speech parameters, which voice shows 
up as the current voice? When on that voice setting, if you use up and down 
arrow, you can select the different voices. Once you have selected a voice, 
VoiceOver should stay on that voice until you change it.
