Hi Cate, something that was helpful to me was to focus more on getting the artifact so the sound was right in the center. I think I was getting into trouble because I was in a hurry to start pulling it down. The pulling down part is really pretty easy, so focus on getting it in the center and the rest will follow. the way I've done this is by following the description put forth by Darren in the podcast, and I think also Alex. If the artifact is on the left, move your finger to the left and then right back to center. You have to come back to center because if you don't, the beam will keep panning and the artifact will keep moving. Usually when you have the artifact centered, the noise sort of speeds up a bit. then just pull down and keep your finger down until the beam stops.
