Hi Donna, at first: thanks for your suggestion for dragging a mailbox. I'll try it out and let you know what happens.
You can move or even remove a mailbox in the favoritesbar by drag and drop. When I used the feature in Lion most of the time it worked that way. To remove a mailbox completely just drag it from the favoritesbar to the mailbox table.
