Hello,

Now I am gradually getting back to normal after several months of building work on my house I am trying to get to grips with Pages again. I have compiled a small archive of messages about this program and found it most useful. However, when it comes to giving a paragraph a particular style the instructions I have just do not work. This is what I have done.

1. Selected a paragraph.
2. Opened the Styles Drawer with CMD+Shift+T.
3. Stopped interacting with all elements of the document including the Scroll area. 4. Navigate the menu bar with VO+left Arrow. At this point I was not surprised to find that the text became unselected as that is what I found happened when formatting characters and was told on this list that this deselection was quite normal.
5. The Styles Menu was obviously dimmed.
6. I thought this might be something to do with cursor tracking so I turned it off after I had done steps 1 and 2 above.
7. I then repeated the other steps and the Styles menu was not dimmed.
8. I brought the mouse pointer to the VO Cursor and clicked on the menu.
9. The menu opened but the only thing VO reported was a Check Box and no list of styles or a list of keys I could attach to a style. I could not use the arrow keys or VO+arrow keys or the tab key to move anywhere. I could only close the menu.

I know it would probably be a good idea to take Anne's course on Pages but before doing so I would like to get a few concepts clear in my mind. I think I just have made a basic error when following the instructions. So, if anyone could point out my error it would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks,

Chris
