Hi, Not sure about the actual creation of the Group on the iPhone itself. I looked around a little but the Contacts app didn't seem to have that functionality. You should be able, though, to do this by creating the groups in the Contacts app on your Mac. Then if you've synced your Contacts with the iCloud service, they should all be synced to the iPhone as well. In fact, I don't have any Contacts either locally on my Macs or locally on my iDevices, they are all stored in iCloud. Therefore, if I add a contact or make a change to anyone's contact info, it is automatically synced to all my devices.
I'm travelling on a bus right now but when I get to the hotel, I'll see if my iPhone allows me to use any of the Groups of contacts similar to the way it does it on my Macs. Later...
