You don't need to change anything. Go to the message in the messages table, and then press vo-m. Arrow right to the file menu, then down arrow to open it, and keep moving down until you find "save attachments". Press enter, and pick where you want the files to be saved just like you were in the Finder. Once you are where you want the files to go, press enter and they will be placed there.
