Hello, It works fairly well. When you connect it, in sounds, you will have to options, Jawbone stereo and just jawbone. Stereo is just that, and better quality. The other, is the sound you would hear when on a call for example. This is the mode it will be in if using the microphone on your Mac. As far as routing audio sure. You can split voiceover from system audio with any bluetooth or external audio device.
Disconnections, and loss of VO? I can not recall this happening but, it might have. I've only used my jawbone era a handful of times on my Mac. But, I don't remember this being a chronic issue.
