The software makes a guess based on past experience. So having the phone shut down on you right away means it didn't guess very well but I suspect it will do better next time. Battery life is always hard to figure out as it depends so much on what you are doing, what the wireless connectivity is like and how much is happening in the background. Does it seem like your overall battery life is down or just that the battery warning wasn't much of a warning?

I thought this problem has been solved, but it happened to me again. I have a
for S iPhone, and it gave me the 20% warning. I kept them going, just like I
did earlier. My iPhone shut down almost immediately maybe about 30 seconds
after giving me the 20% morning. My question is, what are the symptoms of a bad
battery in your iPhone? I'm beginning to wonder if I don't have that problem.
