I could just write the HTML in Mars Edit. I used to just write the HTML on the WordPress web app. However, it's annoying to proof read stuff you've written in HTML. The flow of the writing is broken up by <p> <a href="http:// etcetera. Apart from breaking up the flow of the sentence and paragraph structure, this also makes it difficult to spell check. Markdown, on the other hand, is much cleaner and simpler and makes proof reading really easy. MultiMarkdown Composer II, for example, shows your code in rendered HTML in realtime as you're typing the code. So you can type your markdown code which is nice and clean, and then VO-right arrow once, interact with the HTML area and then see how it looks rendered. Pretty cool. Mars Edit also has a rich text editor, but I'm not really confident with it at the moment. I really like markdown so I'm happy just sticking with it for now.
