The way you can tell if the copy is licensed or not is when you try to install
it it will ask you for the product key. If you don't have one it will sing you
to the website so you can either get a 30 day demonstration key or purchase
one. That is the only way that I know of to tell if you have a copy of VMware
fusion that is retail. Or if you have a demonstration version. My advice is to
certainly get the demonstration key and try the product out for a month to make
sure it will work with your set up completely, before you spend 49, or $99. The
reason why I'm giving two prices here, the $49 wind is intended for the
end-user, and the $99 version is intended for professionals and or developers.
Hope this helps? Sincerely Maurice. PS if you are still having problems
figuring out what you actually got from this company, called VMware? Their
staff will walk you through a series of steps to help determine what you
actually have. And in the four or so years that I have been using the product I
have not been hassled by their staff on this issue at all. The only issues that
I have with their staff is that they don't quite understand that not everybody
here in the US is fully sided, and is not an IT manager or some sort. But if
you know that going in, you should do just fine. Remember all I'm saying here
is take their advice, but while on the call just had somewhat of a thick skin.
