It's kind of tricky to use SK the first time or two . you have to select the "from" key and the "to" key. you first press the "add" button to create an entry. then, in the first list box, you arrow down until you find the grave accent key (assuming you're going to use that key as capslock like I do). then you tab over to the "to" list box and arrow down to caps lock. capslock is way down the list under "special". Make sure you use the list boxes and avoid the keypress boxes. I think the order goes, "from listbox", then "from keypress box", then "to keypress box", then "to listbox". the keypress boxes are for just pressing the key you want to use, but they don't seem to work very well - best to use the listboxes to select the keys. once you have the correct from and to keys selected, tab over and hit done, or okay or whatever it is. now in the main SK window, you'll see your entry in the list of entries. Now you have to add another entry which is the mirror image of the entry you just entered. example, if your first entry was grave key to capslock key, then your second entry has to be its reverse, capslock key to grave accent key. once you have the correct pair of entries in the list, tab over and press "write to registry". You need to then reboot the VM, and the grave key will now functionin windows as the capslock key, and the capslock will function as the grave accent/tilda key. Test it out by pressing grave accent key, it should say "capslock" and pressing capslock should say and produce the grave accent key, while shift capslock should produce the tilda key. If it works you can set your screenreader to use laptop keyboard with capslock as the modifier (JAWS, NVDA etc). BTW: if you think you screwed up sharp keys, all you have to do to fix it is press delete all clearing out all your key remap entries, then press write to registry again - that'll reset things back to normal. good luck On 7/31/13, Wayne Coles <[email protected]> wrote: > hello phil i have tried to use sharp keys but when i find the key i > want to use that is where i get lost so if you know please email me what button i > have to click on please thanks in advance > On 31 Jul 2013, at 10:58, Phil Halton <[email protected]> wrote: > >> Wayne, do you have a full-sized USB keyboard laying around? if so, >> plug it in and you'll have an insert key and will be able to work in >> desktop keyboard layout, at least until you can use SharpKeys to get >> the caps lock reassigned for use with a laptop keyboard layout. >> They're cheap enough at around $15 - $20 at any bestbuy or other >> computer store. >> I'm not on skype.
