Replying to your email late. Yes, I have been having the exact same issue on my iPhone 5. On my wife's iPhone 4S, she is not having the same issue, but she is having the app crash consistently. The phone's diagnostics is full of Podcast app crash reports. It's ridiculous. I would recommend going to another podcast app, like iCatcher or Downcast. I use iCatcher and find it really good. If something doesn't work, the developer usually responds to my email within the same day.
