Well, I'm on my way to solving this problem on my own. Instead of placing audio
files on wordpress servers, it seems like a better idea to incorporate a link
to these files on dropbox from within my posts.
I checked out some other blogs from lists members, and that seems to be a
common method, and it saves the cost of a space upgrade on wordpress. I have a
pre-October 2012 dropbox account, so I have a public folder. The context menu
has the "copy public link" item and placing that link in a html link or from
the address bar in safari, IE10, and firefox cause it to play as I wanted.
Now I just have to research creating links in posts using Marsedit - it'll
probably be a cakewalk.
