I also use motion GPS drive, and I find that Google maps stopped directing 
halfway through. Good thing I knew where I was otherwise, we'd have problems.
I really do love Motion X though, $0.99 for the app and $10 a year for turn by 
turn? Yes please.
I've had nothing but great results with it.
