You can try the search button, which lists each event as a heading. Don't flikc right once you hit it, though, or you'll start back a year. Instead, touch the screen; the current date, or an event close to it, should be centered. There's no better way to do this in Calendar for now, and please email [email protected] to let them know of this problem in iOS7.
