Hi Traci, First, you can try routing vo to the keyboard with vo-shift-f4. Then you can try routing the mouse to vo with vo-command-f5.
If that fails, you can turn on speak text under mouse in vo utility and move the mouse using the track pad if you have one. You can also turn on mouse keys by pressing the option key quickly five times then use the number pad or the j k l group of keys on a MBP. I’m not sure exactly what they are though, I use the track pad if I have to do something like that. It’s not a good user experience, but I’ve been able to do things most of the time.
