Hey Brian, Shame you might have lost some episodes. Hopefully you can get them back. Though what you said about podcast episode horder sounds about right – I think I'm the same. What I've found is that the idea that one day I'll eventually have enough time to listen to them is a bit of a fairy tail I tell myself. the truth is it's hard enough finding time to listen to the new ones coming in, let alone catching up on past episodes. One thing I liked about starting on Downcast was that it was refreshing not to have all those unplayed episodes demanding my time which I had in iTunes.
Wow, 105 podcasts. That's quite a lot. Sounds like that's exactly why you're having problems. I have around 45 or so I think. If I haven't opened Downcast in a while, the first time I open it it's sometimes busy for a few seconds, I guess while it's busy syncing and refreshing podcasts, but this doesn't last too long. I've got 16GB RAM, and this might have something to do with it, but sounds like the real problem is just the number of subscribed feeds. What if you try just leaving Downcast on your Mac open all the time, so it can gradually sync and refresh and not have to do huge batches at once? Also, check Downcast on your iMac for some of those older episodes – if they were ever on your iMac they should still be there now.
