1. Last night, I downloaded Mavericks and left it to install before going to bed. When I checked it in the morning, I don’t know if there was a set-up menu, because the MacBook was on, but silent. I rebooted, whereupon everything seemed fine. When I got to work, I told Mail to continue downloading my messages. Then, I proceeded to attempt to go through my email and pull up files needed for work — and the worst busy hell I have ever experienced ensued. (It has been bad before, but this was ridiculous. I could not even get to Disk Utilities without sighted assistance to repair disk permissions. I did finally succeed in doing this, and it took longer than usual. After this, I initialized the PRAM, which I have been told before is a good idea with busy issues. It is a whole lot better, but still happening too often. 2. As others have mentioned, apps are sluggish in opening and responding. Also, VO is constantly choppy, with words wavering and being cut off. Also, as I type I hear an intermittent sluggish, echoing effect. 3. Is there anything else I can do to cut down further on the busy business? 4. Has anyone else experienced the sluggish VO, and can anything be done about it? Thanks for any help. Christine
