Go to applevis.com and look for “shortcuts”, my guide should be in the results. In short, copy the *exact* text of the menu item to which you want the shortcut to be tied (use VO’s copy last phrase feature). Open System Preferences, go to Keyboard, then the Shortcuts tab, select “applications” in the table, and then add a new shortcut. Select Mail from the apps popup button, paste your text and type your desired shortcut in the proper fields, and there you go. This works for any menu item in any application.
