Hi there.
Well, unfortunately that’s one of the problems that came up with the new 
GarageBand version. 
That’s the reason that, although I have upgraded to mavericks, I did not update 
my GarageBand software.
Let,s hope that a new update will fix that.
No work around that I know so far.
