Hi iOS 6 does not work with the Braille Edge 40. At least, I had a customer who couldn't get it to work. If they ran iOS7 the edge paired with no problem.
I have an edge here and it's working fine with both Mavericks and iOS7. Make sure you are running firmware 1.1 build 20130809 Happy to help you off list with specifics to fix this. Cheers.
