It’s actually easier to command-c to copy and command-v to paste. If you want to practice dragging and dropping, that is another matter. Drag and drop is a bit unpredictable. the item to be dragged has to be visible. I mostly use fullscreen mode to drag within an application. Another method of doing it is to press VO-command-shift-space to mouse-down on an item and then use the same keystroke to place it.
