Well, I've tried six ways from sunday to get VueScan to play nice and it ain't happening. I don't consider myself to be a stupid person - I do have a degree in Computer Science - but this version of VuesScan is not stable on either my iMac or my MBA.
it is version 9.3.22 released on Nov 15. I have followed, or tried to follow the directions on "I an work this thing", and that's where things go south on me. One example, on the output tab, trying to click the "find folder" button when specifying a default folder does not open a browse dialog, and instead causes instability that eventually requires a force quit. Also, when navigating through the various tabs, there comes a point where button names and other item names get garbled and appear out of order - its just random weirdness. I've repaired permissions and everything is stilled screwed up. Honestly, if I just tried out the app without having first heard about from others here, I'd say it has major stability problems and isn't VO friendly. I wonder if this version is problematic and I might have better luck with an earlier version. That's all I can think of - both my machines are working flawlessly in all other respects. I'll just stick with Abbyy FR Express and its one page at a time limitation for now. You know, with all the Mavericks problems and this sort of stuff, I'm starting to think the Mac is Crap. I'm glad I've still got Windows to retreat to - at least its stable, and they don't break accessibility with every new release like on the apple. .
