Hi. I wound up speaking to someone at VM tech support, who told me it can't be done with the configuration I have. I am running a boot camp partition, and have VM grabbing that. Ironically, however, as soon as I finished the call and rebooted my system, it started working just like I want it to. The USB sound card still shows disabled in the VM menus. I am told that my sound isn't using it through Windows, it is sending the sound back to my Mac and using the Mac's sound. I do not understand this fully, but hey, it's working.
