To get to the user (home) folder, hit Command Shift H. You should also look at the Go menu in Finder. It shows you all kinds of folders you may want to go to, and the keyboard shortcuts to get there.
In Finder, hit VO M, then arrow right a few times to the go menu and then arrow down through the menu items.
