Hello John. My hard disk is never asleep nor is anything else, as I kept having trouble with Voice Over. As I don't have a external battery in my I Mac accept for an internal battery to do with the clock or something, I felt that I didn't have to worry about putting the Mac to sleep. Probably one of the reasons I don't have problems with voice Over any more.
