Hi!
OK presuming you've already got to where the key stroke is in keyboard 
shortcuts!
What I did is check it on then arrowed to the command interacted on the key 
stroke and VO said that edit text so I just pressed the key combination I 
wanted and I heard VO say selection replaced!
So I left arrowed and back again and sure enough my choice was now there!
I just quit pref's and was able to use it straight away!
And it is still working!
