Open Voiceover Utility with vn-f8, arrow down to Commanders, and vo-right to the Quicknav tab. Vo-space to activate it, then vo-right to "Allow single-key navigation in web pages" and be sure that is checked. You can also go to "assign commands" to change the default key assignments if you want to. yes, you will have to turn it off to type, which is why I leave it off 95% of the time.
